President announced new cabinet
President Jakaya Kikwete appointed 29 ministers and 21 deputies ministers in his new Government. The President retained some ministries, created new ones and reformed others by reallocating ministerial responsibilities. He appointed Hon. Samweli Sitta (the former National Assembly speaker) to be the minister for East African Co-operation and his deputy will be Hon. Dr. Abdallah Juma Abdallah.
He also appointed Hon. Prof Anna Tibaijuka ( the former UN Habitat Executive Director) and Goodluck Ole Madeye to minister and deputy minister respectively for Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development.
The Ministers who retain their portfolios are Hon. Mustafa Mkulo (Finance), Hon. Prof Mark Mwandosya (Water), Hon. Hawa Ghasia (President’s Office, Public Service Management), Hon. Bernard Membe (Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), Hon. Dr Hussein Mwinyi (Defence and National Service) and Hon. William Ngeleja (Energy and Minerals).
