GLOSSARY
The Speaker
is the Chairperson, chief officer and highest authority of the National Assembly. The one who chairs debates between MPs (person who keeps order and calls MPs to speak during any sitting of the National Assembly). He must be an MP who has been elected to be Speaker by other Members of Parliament.
General election
In a general election the adult population of the TANZANIA chooses a candidate to represent each constituency in the House. Every MP has to stand for re-election. They are usually held every five years.
